David Warner has stepped in as the new captain of Karachi Kings, taking over from Shan Masood for the upcoming Season 10 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Under Masood’s leadership last season, the Kings finished fifth with eight points and six losses. Now, with a new captain at the helm, the team hopes to make a stronger push for the title.
Karachi Kings shared the news on Instagram, saying, Big energy. Bigger moves. CAPTAIN WARNER IS READY. Warner, who has won both the ODI and T20 World Cups, is known as one of the top openers in all formats of cricket. He has led various teams in different leagues over the last ten years.
Earlier this year, Warner entered the PSL Draft after not being picked in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction last November. The Kings made him their first choice in the Platinum category during the PSL 10 Players Draft in Lahore.
Warner has an impressive T20 record, scoring 12,913 runs in 399 matches with an average of 37.00 and a strike rate of 140.23. Karachi Kings’ owner, Salman Iqbal, expressed his excitement about Warner joining the team as captain, saying his leadership fits perfectly with the team’s goals. He also thanked Shan Masood for his great captaincy last season, noting that he laid a solid groundwork for the team.
