Chetan Sharma Explained The Reason Behind The Surprised Omission Of Prithvi Shaw

Indian team will play the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand after the T20 World Cup 2022. On Monday, BCCI announced the team for the upcoming series, and some primary players have been rested from the upcoming series thus lot of youngsters got opportunity for this series. But star batter Prithvi Shaw has been again ignored by the senior selection committee.

His performance in the domestic game was outstanding. After the team’s announcement, cricket fans and experts started criticizing the selectors for his snub. Two main openers of the Indian team, skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have been rested from the series thus Shaw was expected to be picked up for this series. Unfortunately, he was snubbed by the selectors once again. His performance in SMAT was outstanding, and he scored 285 runs in 7 matches with a fantastic average of 47.50 and a strike rate of 191.27.

Chetan Sharma the chief selector explained the reason of his omission and said we are in touch with him, and he will get an equal chance as the other youngsters.

“We are looking for Prithvi (Shaw). We are in constant touch with Prithvi. He is going well. He is doing nothing wrong at all. The thing is that we have to see whether the guys who are playing are also getting their chances. He will get his chance. Selectors are in constant touch with Prithvi. He will get his chances very soon,” said Chetan Sharma.

In the T20I series, Subhuman Gill and Ishan Kishan have been picked as the main openers, whereas Umran Malik, the young pacer battery, also got a place in the squad. The opening encounter of this series will be played on 18th November 2022.
