Breaking News: These Players Are Set To Feature In Upcoming IPL Season For Mumbai Indians and Gujrat Titans As Replacements

The Gurjat Titans have named Sandeep Warrier as a replacement for Mohammad Shami in the upcoming IPL season. On the other hand, South Africa’s under-19 pace bowling sensation Kwena Maphaka has been signed as a replacement by the Mumbai Indians for Dilshan Madhushanka.

In its official statement, the IPL Governing Council stated that “Gujarat Titans (GT) named Sandeep Warrier as a replacement for Mohd. Shami, while Mumbai Indians (MI) added Kwena Maphaka to the squad as a replacement for Dilshan Madushanka for the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Shami, the veteran Indian pacer, recently successfully underwent surgery for his right heel problem and is currently recovering. His replacement, Sandeep Warrier, has so far played five IPL matches and will join GT for his base price of INR 50 lakh.” 

The statement further added, “Dilshan Madushanka was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to an injury. Kwena Maphaka, the left-arm pacer, represented South Africa at the recently concluded ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup and was named Player of the Tournament. He will join MI for his base price of INR 50 lac.” 

Sandeep Warrier has played five IPL matches in his career so far. He has played matches for KKR from 2019 to 2021. Previously, he was part of the Mumbai Indians but did not get a chance to feature in the playing 11 for them.

On the other hand, South Africa’s under-19 pace bowling sensation, Maphaka, has received his maiden IPL call-up. Maphaka impressed everyone with his jaw-dropping Yorkers in the under-19 World Cup. He picked up 21 wickets from six matches at an impressive average of 9.21.
