Breaking News: Hurricane Beryl delays team India’s return to Home after winning the T 20 World Cup

The Indian team’s trip from Barbados to Delhi has been postponed again due to the threat of Hurricane Beryl in the Caribbean country. It was announced on July 2 that they were supposed to depart Barbados at 6 PM local time on Tuesday and arrive in Delhi by Wednesday night. But now, the most recent information indicates that the original schedule has been altered.

As reported, it seems the team won’t reach Delhi until very early on Thursday, July 4.

The reports says , “The Indian team’s travel from Barbados to Delhi has been delayed again. I’ll update you as I know more, but it looks like they won’t arrive in Delhi until around 4-5am on Thursday morning.”

Another report showed that the team would arrive in Delhi at 6 in the morning on Thursday.

The Indian team claimed the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy by defeating South Africa on Saturday, June 29. They have been unable to leave the island country since then because Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Monday, July 1. The hurricane, which started as a category 3, strengthened to a category 4 during this period.

The latest news says that Hurricane Beryl is moving slowly toward Jamaica and has issued a warning for Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) stated, “Beryl is likely to cause dangerous winds and a rise in sea level in Jamaica on Wednesday, and in the Cayman Islands from Wednesday night to Thursday.”

As previous reports , the group is scheduled to travel directly to New Delhi, where they plan to meet with the Prime Minister. However, the team members, their support staff, and families have been stuck on the island for the last two days because their flights were canceled due to Hurricane Beryl, which struck the area strongly on Monday.

At that time, as a safety step, the team was asked to stay in their hotel. The BCCI is trying to set up a special plane to bring the players back home.
