Be Careful If You Want To Watch IPL, Here New Regulation Of BCCI For The Fans

A special advisory has been issued for spectators coming to watch IPL matches, according to which they should not carry banners opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the four cities of Delhi, Mohali, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.


Paytm Insider is the ticketing partner of Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Supergiants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings, has released a list of some banned items, and one of them is banners related to CAA and NRC protests.

It is understood that the advisory has been issued by the franchises that handle ticketing for their respective home matches. This is usually done after consulting the BCCI, as the sporting event does not allow the promotion of any sensitive political or policy issues. A representative of an IPL franchise said that any consultation on banned items is always done after due consultation with the BCCI.

When a senior Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) official was asked about the matter, he said, “Giving tickets is completely in the jurisdiction of the franchisee. We are just facilitators who provide them with stadiums. We have no role in ticket-related advice or warnings.”


A representative of an IPL franchise said that any consultation on banned items is always done after consulting the BCCI. While a BCCI official said, “Please check the FIFA (International Football Association) guidelines for the Football World Cup held in Qatar last year. According to FIFA rules, political, religious, personal, or any slogan was banned.”
