Asia Cup 2023 Final: India Beat Sri Lanka By 10 Wickets, Clinched Title For The 8th Time

In the final of the Asia Cup 2023, India beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets to clinch the Asia Cup title for the eighth time. Thanks to the brilliant bowling performance of fast bowler Mohammed Siraj (6-21), India won the Asia Cup final.

While chasing the target of 51 runs, India achieved it without losing any wickets in 6.1 overs (37 balls). It was a one sided victory for the team and it will definitely give them motivation for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Before this victory, India had won the Asia Cup seven times, which was in 1984, 1988, 1990-91, 1995, 2010, 2016 (T20 edition), and 2018. Seeing a small target, skipper Rohit Sharma sent Ishan Kishan who scored 23 and Shubman Gill got 27 runs for the team.

While bowling for India, Siraj became the second bowler in men’s One Day Asia Cup history to take six wickets in a final match after Ajanta Mendis. Despite a delayed start due to a wet outfield, he delivered a lethal bowling performance, taking 6 wickets for 21 runs in seven overs. With this, Sri Lanka was bundled out on 50 runs at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

Apart from Siraj, Hardik Pandya took three wickets. Jasprit Bumrah also contributed by taking one wicket in the match.
