On Sunday, 23 November, the ACC president and the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi gave the trophy to the winning team.
Saad Masood and Sufiyan Muqeem were the star players of the Pakistan Shaheens’ victory. The final match reached to Super Over, in which Pakistan forbade Bangladesh A a title. Mohsin Naqvi Hands Pakistan Asia Cup Trophy in Doha
Mohsin Naqvi for months has been a part of the controversy regarding the Asia Cup 2025 and hence his name in the news. India under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, denied receiving the trophy from Naqvi. The Men in Blue have not yet claimed their Asia Cup trophy that they earned by defeating Pakistan in the final earlier this year.
On Sunday, Naqvi stood at last with a trophy that was given to his own country. Pakistan A edged Bangladesh A in a thrilling final in Doha. Naqvi, who is both the ACC president and PCB chairman, was at the stadium watching the tense match with excitement.
After the victory, Naqvi came out for the presentation and handed the trophy to the winning captain. He cheered for Pakistan’s win and proceeded with the presentation without any interruptions.
Pakistan Shaheens Truly Played Like Shaheens – Mohsin Naqvi
Mohsin Naqvi in his statement said the team demonstrated the necessary skills and unity to be crowned champions. He also lauded the entire team and the coaching staff for their support, calling this victory an important step for the future of Pakistani cricket
“Pakistan Shaheens typically played like Shaheens and made it three times to the top. They exhibited fabulous cooperation by overcoming Bangladesh in the final. Their input all through the tournament was remarkable,” stated Naqvi.
“I give my full congratulations to all the players and coaches. Today’s win is a signal of bright and glorious future for Pakistan cricket,” he declared.
Ahmed Daniyal Named Player of the Match
Initially, Bangladesh was given the first chance to bat at the Super Over. The very first ball from Ahmed Daniyal ended up being the dismissal of Abdul Gaffar Saqlain. Although the wide ball gave away a run and went to the boundary, Daniyal maintained the same pace and stamina inhibiting Bangladesh to a mere six runs.
For securing the title Pakistan had a target of seven runs. The opening for the chase was a leg bye followed by a single, and then Saad Masood hit a four. He then inside-edged the next ball to accomplish the winning run and take the Rising Stars trophy.
Pakistan made a total score of 126 runs in their innings but their bowlers quickly took back the initiative after Bangladesh’s openers had given their team a solid start. The combination of Arafat Minhas, Saad Masood, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Maaz Sadaqat was instrumental in taking Bangladesh from 36-1 to 53-7.
Rakibul Hasan and SM Meherob momentarily sparked hopes again, but Daniyal’s two wickets in succession not only got rid of the pair but also left the Bangladesh team with just one player left. Saqlain and Ripon Mondol reduced the target to two runs from the last ball, yet only a single was scored, pushing the match into the Super Over.
