‘A Hindrance For RCB’, Aakash Chopra Reveals The Biggest Weakness For RCB Before IPL 2024

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra who is now a renowned commentator has raised a concern for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The former said that the spin department of RCB is not that impressive.

Chopra expressed concerns about the lack of notable spinners in RCB’s squad and pointed out the reliance on relatively inexperienced domestic players like Rajan Kumar, Himanshu Sharma, and Swapnil Singh, in addition to seasoned IPL leg-spinner Karn Sharma.

Chopra was clear, saying that RCB’s spinners aren’t impressive enough, which he thinks is a big weakness for the team in the upcoming IPL season. He pointed out that they don’t have a star spinner who can make a big difference when the game is on the line, especially in matches where spin plays a big role.

Chopra’s criticism highlights the significance of a strong spin-bowling lineup in the IPL, where spinners often have a crucial role. As RCB prepares for another IPL season, they must address these issues to compete effectively against strong rivals and enhance their chances of winning the title.

“The weakness is very apparent. When I start counting the bowlers, I feel – where are the spinners? Why don’t you buy spinners? Among spinners, they have taken Mayank Dagar from Hyderabad. Mayank Dagar is alright but Shahbaz Ahmed was also doing as good a job as Mayank Dagar will do,” he said.

“You have Karn Sharma, who is a very good bowler, but you hesitate a little while using him. You don’t get him to bowl everywhere. I am not seeing any other big names. There are a few domestic names for sure – Rajan Kumar, Himanshu Sharma, Swapnil Singh – but are they the spinners seeing whom you will say – Wow, what a spin combination.”
