Shivam Dube drops a massive statement regarding his contribution as an all rounder

While addressing media persons after the game, India Dube admitted that it was quite interesting for him to contribute in the second innings as an allrounder. The local boy, Abhishek Sharma, who put up a do-or-die show, helped India condemn England to a historic defeat in the fifth and final match of the series, played at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. With that win, India made sure the five-match series ended with 4-1 after having already sealed the series.

After the game, Shivam Dube felt very excited to bowl in the second inning of the match. He added that Morne Morkel, the bowling coach of the Men in Blue, had helped him about his angles.

“It really feels great to be helpful when one is an all-rounder. I would say I had done that for a long while. I had full excitement for my bowling. I could not do that last match, but I knew I would bowl today. [Abhishek] told me to play my shots on the good wicket. I never wanted to bring the run-rate down. I only played my shots. Morne Morkel helped me with my angles. I got that opportunity today and I delivered well,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Shivam Dube saying.

England won the toss and opted to bowl against India at Wankhede, and that was the context of the game.

Abhishek Sharma (135 runs from 54 balls, with 7 fours and 13 sixes) played a magnificent knock in the first innings and propelled India to a score of 247/9. The young joy was the man of the match for Men in Blue on Sunday.

Brydon Carse was the pick of the bowlers in England attack with three wickets, while Mark Wood bagged two himself.

Philip Salt (55 runs from 23 balls, 7 fours, and 3 sixes) was the only batter to stand for England in their chase; one by one, the others fell far short of the level expected of them.

Incredible bowling by the Indians bundled out England for 97, with 9 overs to spare. Three wickets each fell under the charge of Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dube, and Varun Chakravarthy.

Abhishek Sharma was the ‘Player of the Match’ while Varun Chakravarthy was awarded the ‘Player of the Series’.
