Watch: Virat Kohli working hard to… Details inside

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli attended Delhi’s practice session on Tuesday ahead of their Elite Group D Ranji Trophy match against Railways on Thursday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It was his maiden opportunity to work with the team after a long time away from domestic cricket, as he was seen hitting the nets in preparation for the much-awaited match. Delhi coach Sarandeep Singh had earlier announced that Virat shall join the Delhi squad for the Ranji Trophy match against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Kohli has returned to the domestic circuit now that the BCCI has adopted a more stringent view on the participation of Indian international stars in domestic cricket.

In recent days, pictures and videos of Virat training with Sanjay Bangar, a former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore batting coach, have seized social media.

The last round of Ranji Trophy matches are set to conclude on February 2, barely four days before India will host England for a three-match bilateral ODI series that commences in Nagpur. Virat has made a total of 11,479 runs from 155 First-Class matches at an average of 48.23 and strike rate of 55.96.

Apart from Virat, Karnataka’s squad will also feature seasoned wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul for their crucial Ranji Trophy showdown against table-toppers Haryana in Bengaluru. The 32-year-old was named in the squad against fitness but is cleared by the BCCI medical panel, according to ESPNcricinfo. He had missed their last game against Punjab owing to an elbow niggle.

With KL Rahul back in the squad for their game, Karnataka will boast a full-strength team. The team has also included Devdutt Padikkal and Prasidh Krishna, who are currently back from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
