Ravichandran Ashwin Registers Huge Milestone To His Name Before Claiming 500 Test Wickets

Team India’s star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is on the verge of picking up 500 test wickets for India. The veteran bowler missed the milestone by a whisker in the second test match against England.

Ashwin’s wicket tally remained at 499 as India defeated England to make a strong comeback in the series by 106 runs.
Ashwin was on the verge of beating team India’s ace spinner Anil Kumble, becoming the fastest bowler to pick up 500 test wickets, but he failed to do so as Ben Stokes and his men were bowled out.

However, Ashwin registered another feather in the flock as he became India’s leading wicket-taker against England in the test matches. The off-spinner surpassed India’s lead spinner, Bhagwat Chandrashekhar, who picked up 95 wickets in 23 test matches, registering an eight-five-wicket haul against England.

Before the Vizag test, Ashwin was two wickets short of making the record his own. In the first innings of the second test against England, Ashwin was not very successful, with the ball picking up just one wicket in the first innings.
However, Ashwin is not at the top of the list when picking up wickets against England.

James Anderson, who picked up three wickets in the first innings of the second test match, is at the top of the list, picking up 144 wickets in 36 test matches.

The third test match of the series between the two teams will start on February 15 in Rajkot.
