Former Indian opener and now a renowned commentator Aakash Chopra has praised Shaheen Afridi for his outstanding bowling performance against Bangladesh. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra was truly impressed and captivated by Shaheen Shah Afridi’s performance when he took the wicket of Mahmudullah in the World Cup 2023 match between Bangladesh and Pakistan on Tuesday, October 31 at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Mahmudullah is widely considered as the outstanding batsman for the Bangladesh cricket team. He managed to score 56 runs from 70 balls, including six boundaries and a six before Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed him.
Shaheen Shah Afridi approached from around the wicket and made the ball deviate away from Mahmudullah, leaving him completely deceived. The ball struck the stumps, sealing the crucial dismissal of the in-form batsman.
Chopra also praised Shaheen Shah Afridi for achieving the remarkable feat of becoming the fastest pacer to reach 100 wickets in One Day Internationals in just his 51st match. The fast bowler reached this milestone by dismissing Tanzid Hasan Tamim.
“The way Shaheen started here, his numbers are very good against Bangladesh, he is doing very well in this tournament and has reached the landmark (100 ODI wickets) very quickly. He picked up wickets with the new ball and the way he dismissed Mahmudullah with the old ball, I thought that was beautiful,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

“He came around the stumps and took the ball away. It reminded me slightly of Wasim Akram. Wasim Jr – he gets the ball to reverse swing nicely because he has a slightly round-arm action. He hit the ball on the stumps that was quite impressive,” he added.
