Yuvraj Singh Gives Remark On Hardik Pandya Replacing Rohit Sharma As MI Captain

Former Indian veteran Yuvraj Singh came with a surprising remark in which he asked the Indian team management not to pick the star Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in white-ball format. As we know, Ashwin has been seen in the white-ball cricket more often in the white-ball series.

Ashwin was part of the 2021 T20I World Cup and then again made it into the 2022 T20I World Cup. Not only this, he was also called as the replacement in the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India. However, Ashwin hardly got any place in the Indian playing XI.

The left-handed cricketer said that R Ashwin is phenomenal in Test cricket, but his contribution with bat and ball in white ball cricket is not that impactful.

Ashwin is a great bowler, but I don’t think he deserves a place in ODIs and T20s. He is very good with the ball, but what does he bring with the bat? Or as a fielder? In the Test team, yes, he should be there. But in white-ball cricket, I don’t think he deserves a place,” Yuvraj Singh told the Times of India

Yuvraj Singh also talked about the replacement of Rohit Sharma as captain for the Mumbai Indians and appointing Hardik Pandya as the new captain of the franchise. He said that every franchise has a longer vision and he himself went with the same thing.

“In franchise cricket, it always gets tough as you get old. Every franchise is always looking to promote a young player on whom they have spent a lot, and that is only fair. I have faced this situation too. But then, there can’t be a replacement for experience. Rohit has huge experience and has delivered. But a franchise has to think long-term,” he said.
