WTC Final: Nepotism Or Comeback? Check Who Is Behind The Selection Of Ajinkya Rahane In WTC Final

The Indian cricket team has been announced for the World Test Championship 2023 (WTC) final. The command of the 15-member team has been handed over to Rohit Sharma. 5 fast bowlers, 3 spinners, 1 wicketkeeper and 6 batters have made a place in the team. Veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane has also been included in this team. Ajinkya Rahane has made a comeback in the Indian team after 15 months. Now the reports are claiming that it was not only Ajinkya’s excellent performance in the IPL which has forced selectors to include him in the playing 11, but the advice of the former Indian captain has also played a significant part in his comeback.

According to media reports, CSK captain Dhoni had given inputs about Ajinkya Rahane to Indian team management and selectors, after which Rahane was included in the WTC final.

In IPL 2023, Ajinkya Rahane is playing for the CSK team. His performance this season has been very good so far, so he has been given a place in the team.

A senior BCCI official said Ajinkya was always part of the plan when Shreyas was injured. After which, Rahane was recalled on Dhoni’s advice.

Ajinkya Rahane said on his return to Team India, “I have enjoyed all my innings so far; I still feel that the best is yet to come. It’s great learning, I played under Mahi Bhai for India for many years, and now in CSK, it’s great learning.”

Rahane has played 6 matches in IPL 2023, and in that, he has scored 224 runs at an average of 44.80. Apart from this, he has scored runs at 189.83 strike rate.
