Will MS Dhoni Play In IPL 2024 As Well? Suresh Raina Gives A Blunt Reply

Chennai Super Kings will be entering into the 16th edition of IPL intending to clinch the fifth title of this cash-rich league. After the mini-auction, it was rumored that this 2023 season might be the last season of MS Dhoni. However, his former teammate Suresh Raina who is currently representing India Maharajas in the Legends League Cricket has given his different opinion regarding the future of Captain Cool.

The former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has stated that he wouldn’t be surprised if MS Dhoni decides to play in the Indian Premier League in 2024. Raina added that Dhoni has been in good shape and performing well in batting during the preparations for the IPL 2023 season, where he is expected to make his final appearance. Dhoni has been training with the Chennai Super Kings squad well for the tournament.

Since MS Dhoni joined the Chennai Super Kings’ training camp earlier this March, videos of him hitting impressive sixes and sweating out in practice sessions have really increased the excitement of Dhoni among fans.

Suresh Raina recently shared his thoughts on MS Dhoni’s potential continuation in the IPL during an interview at the Legends League Cricket tournament in Doha. Raina suggested that Dhoni might surprise everyone by extending his IPL career, but he also acknowledged that it could be challenging for players like Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu to perform at their best without having played competitive cricket.

“He can play the IPL next year as well, you never know,” Raina said.

He further added, “He (Dhoni) has been batting well and looking fit, it depends on how the performance is this year. It may be a little challenging since he and (Ambati) Rayudu haven’t played in the tournament for one year,” he added.

The Chennai Super Kings will commence their IPL 2023 campaign against the Gujarat Titans in the tournament’s opening match which will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 31st March.
