Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane had a great IPL 2023 after which he found a place in the World Test Championship. There, Rahane performed brilliantly and now he has been assigned as the vice-captain for this West Indies tour. A few months ago it seemed that Rahane won’t be able to make his place in the team but the batter came with some solid performances.
Meanwhile, Rahane has talked about the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and appreciated him for supporting the players and giving them the freedom to play the way they want.
According to a statement issued by Indian Express, Ajinkya Rahane said, “WTC final was the first game where I played under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. Rohit gives freedom to all the players and those are good traits of a great captain.”
Rahane has also praised Yashasvi Jaiswal who has made it into the team and most probably will play at number three for India in place of Cheteshwar Pujara. Jaiswal has done exceptionally well in the domestic circuit for Mumbai and then in the IPL playing for Rajasthan Royals. Rahane is hopeful of Jaiswal playing an effective and valuable innings for the team.
Rahane said, “Firstly, I am happy for him (Jaiswal). He is a really exciting talent. He has done exceptionally well in the domestic cricket for Mumbai and then in the IPL for the Rajasthan Royals. Most importantly the way he is batting in the red ball. He did well in the Duleep Trophy last year. His numbers are really good. My message to him will be just express your batting, don’t think too much about International cricket. It’s all about going out in the middle and playing your game.”
