The first test match between India and West Indies will be played from July 12 at Windsor Park, Dominica. If the reports are to be believed, Indians fans can see the new opening pair in the first Test.
The sources claim that Yashasvi Jaiswal who has been exceptionally well in the domestic cricket as well as for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2023 is all set to open the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma. On the other hand, the partner of Sharma, Shubman Gill will take the place of Cheteshwar Pujara at number three who is not the part of the squad.
The Indian team did not have a good time during the World Test Championship final in London. They faced a massive loss of 209 runs against the Australians and now they will look to start the third cycle of WTC in a great way.
After the poor performance by the team in the important WTC final, many players have been dropped including Pujara and Mohammed Shami. On the other side, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Jaiswal have got the maiden call up.
The second Test between India and West Indies will be played at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. This is the last test of the two-match Test series starting from July 20.
