“Why was Hardik Pandya….” Aakash Chopra Questioned Indian Skipper On Losing The First Encounter Against New Zealand

The Indian team lost the first T20I clash of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand by 21 runs. In the match, the visitors set the total 176/6 on the board in 20 overs, and in reply, the Indian team managed to score 155/9 in 20 overs and lost the clash by 21 runs.

After the match, cricket experts and fans slammed the Indian skipper Hardik Pandya for some bizarre decision that led the Indian side to lose the match. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra questioned the Indian skipper’s decision to open the bowling attack instead of veteran speedster Arshdeep Singh is available.

“We thought Finn Allen was a walking wicket that you would dismiss him easily, but that did not happen. Why was Hardik Pandya bowling the first over? I feel Arshdeep should have bowled the first over,” asked Aakash to Hardik.

Further, Aakash Chopra added that Kiwis started the game with a big over of 12 runs, giving them the momentum and confidence to grow.

“Allen hit three fours in the first over. When you hit three fours, your confidence grows a lot. Then you are not afraid of anyone and say you will hit. Arshdeep is not looking in that good form; that’s the other part of the story,” Chopra further added.

However, Hardik Pandya had already dismissed Finn Allen in the ODI series, so he might have thought to open the bowling attack in front of him. But the Indian skipper conceded 12 runs in the very first over of the match in Ranchi.
