Team India have defeated the visiting England in the Rajkot test match by a huge margin of 434 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the ongoing five-match test series.
However, this match was quite special for Rohit Sharma and company, as they became the first team to declare their innings against England after the start of the Bazball era. The Bazball approach in the test matches for England started when New Zealand’s aggressive opener, Brandon McCullum, took over as the head coach of England in the longest format of the game in May 2022.
Speaking about the match, team India declared their second inning by posting a mammoth score of 434-4 on account of a prolific double century by team India’s young opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who top-scored the Indian inning with 214 runs. Which set up a huge target of 556 runs for England to chase after winning the test match when Indian skipper Rohit Sharma decided to declare the Indian innings.
Chasing a huge target of 557 runs became a herculean task for the visitors as they got bundled out with just 122 on the board with Indian star all-rounder picking up a fifer in the second innings to help India win the test match by 434 runs, which is the largest victory for team India in terms of runs in test matches.
This defeat also marks England’s second biggest test loss in their history after their 562-run defeat against Australia in 1934.
The fourth test match of the series will start on February 23 in Ranchi.
