The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are propped up by a supremely talented player, Ramakrishna Ghosh, who is expected to be their secret weapon for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season if they decide to give him his debut. CSK bought Ghosh at the last mega auction for his starting bid of INR 30 lakhs and has kept him for IPL 2026; the 28-year-old bowling all-rounder is now making every right step to win the selectors over.
Ramakrishna Ghosh in fiery form before IPL 2026
The Maharashtra player is one of the top performers in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT 2025-26) with both the bat and the ball. With the bat, he has scored 205 runs in five matches with two fifties and at a strike rate of just under 140.
He has been outstanding with the ball as well, having taken seven wickets in one match against Himachal Pradesh and setting a record for the best bowling figures from his state in the tournament’s history. Currently, the all-rounder is the top wicket-taker in VHT 2025-26 with 16 wickets in five matches.
In the longer format, the CSK player has also been enjoying a good run, scoring 130 runs at 32.50 with the bat and claiming 10 wickets in four outings with a personal best of 4/71 in an innings.
What makes Ramakrishna Ghosh worthy of inclusion in the CSK playing XI?
The lower-order of CSK was a major problem last season, which can’t be overlooked as one of the reasons for their finishing last in the table. In this light, the team management had to come up with ways to resolve the issue and so younger players Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer are among those who have been signed up.
Ramakrishna Ghosh is also a player who has worked his way up and is in good form, which gives the CSK team more selection options. The option of Ramakrishna does come with a benefit, as he can bowl during the powerplay and death overs and at the same time, he is open to batting anywhere. Ramakrishna Ghosh can also act as a backup for Shivam Dube who had an unimpressive last season with the bat and is not utilized for his bowling on the IPL circuit.
