The former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has said that the poor performance of Joe Root has been the prime reason for the downfall of England in the ongoing ODI World Cup.
After an impressive start to the tournament with two consecutive half-centuries, Root’s performance took a significant downturn, managing a mere 16 runs in his subsequent four innings. His extremely poor batting has been a major factor contributing to England’s overall failure in the World Cup.
