In the first match of Major League Cricket 2023, Texas Super Kings beat Los Angeles Knight Riders by 69 runs. Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu who was the part of Texas Super Kings is not the part of the squad anymore.
Rayudu has also played for Chennai Super Kings and he was part of the team when CSK lifted the title in 2023. He pulled out of the tournament for personal reasons. The management of Texas Super Kings confirmed the exclusion of Rayudu a month back.
Chennai Super Kings is the parent company of Texas Super Kings and in the statement released they said that,”Ambati Rayudu will not be available to participate in the first season of the MLC with Texas Super Kings due to personal reasons. He will continue to cheer for the team from India.”
There was a statement released by the BCCI after the Apex Council meeting in which it was said that the recently retired cricketer will not join the hands with any other franchises to play the league. The Indian cricket board came with a “Cooling-off” period to stop players joining the league right after their retirement.
Jay Shah said,”We’ll come out with a policy to prevent the trend of pre-determined retirement. The office bearers will make a policy and send it back for approval.”
