Why did Virat Kohli finish with higher Ranking than Ravindra Jadeja in the latest ICC T 20 all-rounder rankings?

Virat Kohli ended his T20 international career on a high note by scoring a winning innings in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados last week. The famous Indian cricketer said he was retiring from T20 internationals after receiving the Player of the Match award in the final and saw a significant increase in his final ICC T20 rankings.

The 35-year-old stalwart moved up seven spots to number 40 in the International Cricket Council’s T20 batting rankings. Last month, he was not in the top 50 batters. Meanwhile, fans were surprised to see Virat Kohli also improving in the ICC T20 all-rounder rankings, finishing ahead of Ravindra Jadeja in the recently updated list.

Both Kohli and Jadeja decided to stop playing T20 Internationals after India won the World Cup. Jadeja, who is the top all-rounder in Test cricket, did not perform well with his bat and ball in the big tournament held in the West Indies and the USA.

How did Virat Kohli ended up over Ravindra Jadeja in all rounder Ranking?

In the T20 cricket rankings, the positions often shift more frequently because more players from associate nations are participating. Virat Kohli has taken four wickets in 13 T20 innings with an average of 51.00 and an economy rate of 8.05, while Ravindra Jadeja has taken 54 wickets in 71 innings with an average close to 30.

However, Virat Kohli has impressive batting statistics in T20 cricket, scoring over 4000 runs with an average of 48.69, whereas Jadeja has scored just over 500 runs in 41 innings. In the T20 rankings, a player can keep their position even if they don’t bowl for a while, which has helped Kohli stay in the top 100 of the ICC T20 all-rounder rankings.

Jadeja’s recent difficulties with both batting and bowling have caused him to drop in the ICC T20 rankings. He also fell out of the top 100 ICC T20 bowler rankings after only taking one wicket in the T20 World Cup 2024.
