Why Delhi Capitals Will Not Retain David Warner? Aakash Chopra Remarks On The Future Of Australian Legend

Former Indian opener and now a renowned commentator Aakash Chopra has given a huge statement regarding the future of star Australian opener David Warner in the Indian Premier League. Former Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Aakash Chopra asserts that it is unlikely for the Delhi Capitals to retain David Warner in the 2025 auction.

With IPL 2024 over and KKR claiming their 3rd title, all teams will begin planning for the 2025 season. This includes Delhi Capitals, who ended this year in 6th place. Their primary focus will be deciding which players to retain and identifying targets for the next season’s Mega Auction.

While talking to his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “The Australian investment is not working, whether it is David Warner or Mitchell Marsh. I don’t remember a single season Mitchell Marsh played fully and did well. He can do well but doesn’t play a full season. I think David Warner is done. You might not want to retain him. Forget Jhye Richardson, he won’t even come into their thoughts.”

Despite not making it to the top 4, the Delhi Capitals had several positive takeaways this season. Rishabh Pant made a strong comeback and smartly led the team after becoming a full-time captain. Jake Fraser-McGurk emerged as a standout player. Lastly, their Indian players outshone the overseas recruits, strengthening the team’s core.

Players like Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, and Khaleel Ahmed have strongly established themselves as essential members of the team.
