Why Aakash Chopra Marks Ravindra Jadeja As The Weakest Point For Chennai Super Kings? Here Is The Surprising Reason

Former Indian batter and one of the star commentators of the cricket world Aakash Chopra has marked the weakest point for the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2024.

Chopra praised Ravindra Jadeja as the team’s sole effective spinner, but he also pointed out Jadeja’s relatively less impressive statistics in the T20 format. Chopra expressed concerns about CSK’s limited spin bowling options, with only Jadeja’s place guaranteed in the playing XI, suggesting that this might pose challenges for the defending champions in the upcoming season.

In a recent YouTube video, Chopra suggested that CSK could face challenges, particularly on spin-friendly home pitches in Chennai, due to their reliance on overseas players for spin bowling. The former Indian cricketer referenced CSK’s team selections from the previous season and elaborated on why the same approach might not yield the same results for the team.

“There are slight concerns in the spin department. They don’t have any Indian spin-bowling option, barring Ravindra Jadeja, who will play in the XI…So there is more pressure on the overseas contingent, that they should do more spin bowling, which, in my opinion, is not the greatest of things,” Chopra said in his YouTube video.

He further added, “The best of Ravindra Jadeja comes in Test cricket. After that, ODI cricket and I keep Jadeja’s T20 bowling at the bottom of that list. Of course, the captain gets the best out of him.”
