A social activist from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur filed a PIL in the district court against former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, actor Aamir Khan and others, accusing them of promoting betting.

In a petition filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tamanna Hashmi claimed that these players and actors are playing with the present and future of youth by involving them in betting through various online games related to IPL.

Hashmi said, “These people are misleading the country’s youth and forcing them to indulge in betting. They are enticing them with attractive prizes, but at the same time they are teaching the addiction of the youth into betting. The cricket and film icon has promoted several gaming shows and encouraged people to make an IPL team. Some of these people are winning prizes, resulting in gambling addiction.”

Tamannaah Hashmi has said that nowadays gambling is being done openly on a large scale by forming teams through different types of mobile gaming apps. The accused are promoting it by taking crores of rupees. Crores of youth and teenagers of the country consider these accused as their role models and are losing crores of rupees daily.

Under the influence of the propaganda of the accused, crores of youths and teenagers are playing with their lives. This is ruining the future of the youth of the country. The matter has been fixed for hearing on April 22. Hashmi has filed petitions in the court against many veterans in the past as well.
