In a recent turn of events, former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has openly criticized Sikander Bakht for suggesting that Team India is involved in fixing tosses during the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Akram dismissed Bakht’s claim, labelling it as an unnecessary controversy and emphasizing that the coin’s landing spot is not predetermined but rather a part of the show for sponsorship and visibility.
Sikander Bakht, a former cricketer, presented a conspiracy theory regarding Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s toss strategy. According to Bakht, Sharma deliberately tosses the coin far away from the opposing captain to prevent them from accurately verifying the outcome of the toss.
“Can I give you a conspiracy theory? If you see closely enough, whenever Rohit Sharma gets to flip the coin for the toss, he also tosses it far away from the other captain. It is almost far enough that the other captain never really gets to see what the actual outcome of the toss was,” Bakht said.
Wasim Akram quickly dismissed Bakht’s theory, pointing out that the coin’s landing spot is not a result of deliberate actions but rather a spectacle designed for sponsorship and visibility. Akram expressed his embarrassment over such baseless theories circulating in Pakistan.
“Who says ki coin ne kaha land karna hai? Ye kisne kaha hai ki usne waha par coin fenkna hai? Vo toh sponsorship ke liye hai, dikhane ke liye hai. Kahi bhi chala jaye. I feel embarrassed (Who decides where the coin should land? It is just for sponsorship! I feel embarrassed),” Akram said.

This isn’t the first time Wasim Akram has addressed speculative theories regarding Team India. Earlier, he responded to Hasan Raza’s theory about Team India having a special set of white balls. Akram cautioned against embracing such unfounded theories, emphasizing the potential embarrassment and humiliation it could bring to Pakistan in front of the world.
“I have been reading about it for the last couple of days. I want to have the same thing these guys are having; it sounds like fun because their mind is not there. You will embarrass yourself, and you will get us humiliated as well in front of the whole world,” Akram told A Sports.
