“Babar Azam must have realized replacements…”: Ramiz Raja Slammed Zaka Ashraf For Pre-Planning Of Babar’s Resignation

In a surprising turn of events, Babar Azam, the talented cricketer who led the Pakistan cricket team across all formats, recently announced his resignation from the captaincy. The abrupt decision came on the heels of Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the World Cup 2023.

The World Cup campaign for Pakistan ended on a disappointing note, prompting Babar Azam to take a step back from the captaincy role. The team’s lacklustre performance became a turning point in Babar’s captaincy journey.

What caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts was the swift announcement of new captains for T20Is and Tests within minutes of Babar Azam’s resignation. This quick decision raised eyebrows and led to speculations about the deliberate nature of the choices.

Former PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja shared insights into this intriguing development. According to Raja, the rapid appointment of new captains indicated a pre-planned decision. He suggested that Babar Azam might have realized that replacements for the captaincy role were already decided, prompting his unexpected resignation.

“Babar Azam must have realized replacements were already decided, and that’s why he resigned cause it doesn’t happen occasionally that he leaves. After five minutes, new captains were announced,” Ramiz Raja said.

The situation gained further clarity when PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf held a meeting with Babar Azam at the board headquarters in Lahore. During the meeting, Ashraf proposed for Babar to continue as the Test captain, highlighting his admiration for Babar’s cricketing abilities.

Contrary to the proposal, Babar Azam decided to step down from the Test captaincy, adding another layer of surprise to the unfolding drama. Zaka Ashraf expressed his respect for Babar’s decision, emphasizing the desire to see him flourish as a player without the additional burden of captaincy.

Zaka Ashraf showered praise on Babar Azam, acknowledging him as a world-class player and a valuable asset to Pakistan cricket. The focus shifted from captaincy responsibilities to Babar’s potential to reach greater heights as a batter.

“Babar Azam is truly a world-class player, and we want him to continue to thrive as a player. He is one of the best batters Pakistan has ever produced. He is our asset, and we will continue to support him. His batting prowess is a testament to his dedication and skill. He is a role model for the present generation”, Ashraf said.

Without the weight of captaincy on his shoulders, the PCB expects Babar Azam to concentrate more on his performances and achieve new milestones. Zaka Ashraf believes that Babar’s decision to step down will allow him to grow as a batter and serve as a role model for the present generation.

“We want to see him grow as a great batter, and now, without the additional burden of the captaincy, he can focus more on his performances to reach even greater heights. We respect his decision and will continue to back him,” Zaka Ashraf said.

The PCB reaffirmed its support for Babar Azam, recognizing him as a role model for aspiring cricketers. The emphasis is now on nurturing Babar’s talent and ensuring he continues to excel on the cricketing field.
