Where Should Ishan Kishan Play For India In ODIs, Rohit Sharma Responds

Ishan Kishan, who caused controversy by being left off the team despite scoring a world-record double-century, is anticipated to be in the starting lineup for the forthcoming ODI series against a formidable New Zealand team. Kishan can now fill KL Rahul’s spot because of personal concerns, but he might not be required to open during the three-match series that begins here on Wednesday.

Despite completing the fastest double hundred in ODI history against Bangladesh in the previous series, Kishan was forced to sit out the Sri Lanka series.

With scores of 70, 21, and 116 in the Sri Lanka series, Shubman Gill, who was chosen ahead of Kishan to start alongside captain Rohit Sharma as a result of his consistency, made the most of the possibilities. The opening combination against the Black Caps isn’t expected to change, but because Rahul isn’t available, Kishan is likely to keep wickets.

After Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma, Ishan became the fourth Indian to score a double century in an ODI. In the final ODI against Bangladesh, the wicketkeeper-batter struck 210 from 131 balls to achieve the feat.

Meanwhile, sharing his thoughts on the new challenge, Rohit said, “Going into the series it’s pretty simple for us, we just want to keep improving as a team. Great opposition, great challenge, we can challenge ourselves to come out and achieve what we want to as a team. New Zealand is a very good team, they’re coming off a great series victory against Pakistan, so obviously they are playing some good cricket.”
