“Whatever is happening to Babar right now…..” Rashid Latif’s Bold Remark On Babar Azam’s Captaincy

Pakistan cricket team skipper Babar Azam won twin ICC awards this year. Recently, he became the ICC ODI Men’s Cricketer Of the Year 2022 and the ICC Men’s Player Of The Year. Babar scored 2600+ runs in international cricket in the year 2022; his performance in the previous year was overwhelming. Babar had also scored 8 centuries in the last 9 ODI matches in the last year.

The World cricket fraternity has been praising Babar Azam’s batting performance. His batting style and approach in the ODIs format influenced cricketing world players, but his captaincy has come under scanner recently because Pakistan lost the Asia Cup 2022 and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after reaching the finals. However, after these prestigious cups, they lost three test matches against England and the ODI series against New Zealand at home.

Speaking on this, former Pakistani wicketkeeper batter Rashid Latif lauded Babar Azam’s batting performance and awakened the Green army that they need more alternatives to Babar for the captaincy role.

“You tell me the options. How much does Shadab (Khan) play? He misses 50 percent matches due to injury. He is not an option. If Shadab is available throughout, I would’ve said myself that Babar can step down. Shaheen (Afridi) is out of injury as well. There’s only one guy who plays all the matches,” said Latif.

Further, Latif added that the same thing happened to former Pakistani skipper Sarfaraz Khan and we raised our voice against him and still figuring out our mistake and haven’t recovered from that.

“Whatever is happening to Babar right now, the same thing happened to Sarfaraz a few years ago. That was a big mistake, and we raised our voices against that. It was a very bad move. We still haven’t recovered from that. If you think you can do a reset after removing Babar from captaincy. No one can stand in front of him right now,” Rashid Latif further added.
