Pakistani Cricketer Becomes Sports Minister While Playing Cricket

Pakistani star speedster Wahab Riaz, who is currently showing his magical bowling spells in the Bangladesh Premier League, received great news in the middle of the tournament.

He has been appointed as the acting sports minister of the Punjab province of the Pakistan government. However, he will not be able to take part in the minister oath ceremony as he is currently busy in Bangladesh League and will take the oath after returning from there.

The left-arm pacer of Pakistan took a total of 237 wickets in 156 matches for Pakistan, combining all three formats. He was also a part of the Pakistani team that won the Champions Trophy in 2017.

However, in 2019, Riaz took an unspecified break from red-ball cricket to concentrate fully on limited-overs cricket. But for the last 2 years, he could not even play limited-overs cricket for Pakistan. In the last 10 days, he took 9 wickets in the Bangladesh league.

In the past, he had achieved the feat of taking 400 T20 wickets. He became the first player from Pakistan to reach this milestone. Not only this, but he also became the sixth bowler in the world to do so after Dwayne Bravo, Rashid Khan, Sunil Narine, Imran Tahir, and Shakib Al Hasan.
