What are the rules for the ICC T 20 World Cup finals, here’s what you need to know

India and South Africa are both aiming to win the prestigious T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in Barbados on Saturday, June 28. Both teams have been successful so far, winning all their matches leading up to the final. However, the weather might cause some challenges at the Kensington Oval.

The weather forecast for Bridgetown on June 28 shows a 50 percent chance of rain. Although the rain is expected to lessen as the game continues, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has already set the rules and conditions for the final to ensure a complete match for the fans.

How much additional time is given for the final, and when does the game stop if it’s close to ending? Is there a backup day if needed?

The ICC set aside an extra 250 minutes for the second semi-final match between India and England, and they have added an extra 190 minutes for the final on Saturday. The match starts at 10:30 AM local time (8:00 PM IST), so we can expect it to end by 1:40 PM (11:10 PM IST). Teams must complete at least 10 overs for the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method to be used if needed.

The ICC has set aside a reserve day for the championship game. If they can’t play at least 10 overs on Saturday due to weather, the match will continue on Sunday. If it starts raining during the game, they’ll pick up where they left off on Sunday. The game will restart at 10:30 AM local time (8:00 PM IST) on the reserve day.

What if it rains too much on the reserve day and they can’t play at all?

If the weather completely prevents any play on the reserve day, both teams will be declared co-champions and will both receive the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy.
