‘We Saw Him Becoming The Leader Of The Pace Attack’, Aakash Chopra Praises Mohammed Siraj For His Sheer Dominance Against West Indies

After the stump of the Day 4 game between India and West Indies Test, West Indies needed 289 runs to win this match. After bundling out West Indies on 255 runs in the first innings, India declared their second innings on 181/2. After this West Indies needed 365 runs in their second innings but they were 2 wickets down at 76 runs.

Meanwhile the former Indian opener and one of the most renowned commentators Aakash Chopra has praised Mohammed Siraj for his brilliant bowling for India where he claimed five wickets in the first innings. In the absence of some prime pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, Siraj has taken the responsibility and has delivered for the team at his best.

While analysing the game between India and West Indies, Aakash Chopra praised Siraj on his youtube channel and said,”It is a flat pitch and in such a case if Mohammed Siraj comes and picks up five wickets, you need to sing his praises. We saw Siraj’s reign in Trinidad. We saw him becoming the leader of the pack.”

Further, Aakash Chopra said that the pacer is leading an experienced pace attack but doing his job in the most convenient way.

“One is Jaydev Unadkat, who is playing just his fourth Test and has made a comeback to Test cricket after a very long time. The second is Mukesh Kumar, who is a debutant. You (Siraj) were given the responsibility and you were playing on a surface that did not offer much help.”

Chopra said that one thing he likes about Siraj is his eagerness and energy to bowl in any situation.

“He is a bowler who likes to bowl. You will say everyone likes that – that’s not the case. Whether there is help from the pitch or not and even if he has bowled a long spell, when you look towards him, he says he will bowl. The intent to bowl makes a huge difference.”

He also added,”It means you are in for a fight and ready to bowl continuously. Such bowlers are ones for the long haul and captains give them a lot of responsibility. Because he loves bowling, he is always with you as well.”
