The first Test between India and England being played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, India got a lead of over 150 runs, thanks to the brilliant half-centuries of Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja.
Joe Root dismissed KS Bharat, who was close to reaching fifty, and England secured their seventh wicket in just 10 balls after a run-out mix-up between Ashwin and Jadeja led to Ashwin’s dismissal.
The incident happened in the 91st over of India’s first innings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. During Joe Root’s over, Ashwin, who had recently come to the crease, played the third delivery to the right of cover and took off for a single. Jadeja responded but turned back after a quick stop by the fielder.
Ashwin focused on the ball, continued running, and ended up in the same corner as Jadeja. The fielder, Tom Hartley, threw the ball to wicketkeeper Ben Foakes, who dislodged the bails, leading to Ashwin’s dismissal. The two batsmen shared a look before Ashwin walked back with full disappointment.

Shortly after the dismissal commentator Harsha Bhogle asked former head coach Ravi Shastri to predict the dressing room scene after the end of the day’s game. Shastri speculated that none of the players involved in the mix-up would want to admit their mistake.
Ravi Shastri said, “Both will sit in different corners of the dressing room. Both will not admit whose mistake it was. He will say it is his mistake and others will say the same.”
