In the match number 25 of the ILT20 2023, the Desert Vipers defeated the Dubai Capitals by a margin of 22 runs in which Sherfane Rutherford won the Player of the Match. The left-handed batter scored 50 runs off 23 balls with the help of six sixes. The interesting part is Rutherford smacked 5 sixes in a single over against the former star Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan.
The Vipers, who were allowed to bat first, finished their 15 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium at 112 for the loss of four wickets. While Rutherford was gaining his footing, Sam Billings was batting on 44 and had already scored 16 runs off 15 balls. And, when the team needed someone to go behind the bowlers, that’s when Rutherford started batting explosively.
Billings took a single off the first ball of the 16th over, and Rutherford then targeted Pathan. The southpaw hit Pathan for five consecutive sixes and hammered the ball on the leg side.
The Vipers scored 143 for the loss of six wickets in 16 overs after scoring 31 runs in the over and they set a mammoth target of 183 runs for the capitals.

The Vipers then restricted the Capitals to a total of 160 which they made at the loss of 7 wickets. For the Vipers, Sheldon Cottrell and Luke Wood both grabbed two wickets.
The Vipers, under the leadership of Colin Munro, have already qualified for the playoffs and have clinched a spot in the top two. On the other side, the Capitals remain stuck in fifth place in the standings with seven points and a net run rate of -0.546.
