WATCH: Rohit Sharma’s Trouser Comes off While Fielding, Cricketer Felt Embarrassed

During the 29th match of the Indian Premier League 2024, former Mumbai Indian skipper Rohit Sharma experienced an awkward moment on the field. In the 12th over of the CSK innings, CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad hit a shot to deep mid-wicket off Akash Madhwal’s delivery. Rohit, who was positioned well to take the catch, ran to his right and even dived, but unfortunately, the ball slipped from his hands at the last moment.

Adding to the mishap, Rohit’s trousers came off which stunned the crowd and commentators.

In this match, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 69 runs while Shivam Dube got 66 runs to help Chennai get a remarkable total of 206 runs. It was also MS Dhoni at the end who got three consecutive sixes against Hardik Pandya and scored 20 runs in four balls with a strike rate of 500.

Despite Rohit Sharma’s century, Mumbai Indians lost to Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs. Mumbai Indians were chasing a target of 207 runs, but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sharma scored 105 runs off 63 balls with the help of 11 fours and five sixes but he did not get support from the other end and eventually, another loss fell for Mumbai.

MI skipper Hardik Pandya also talked about the loss and during the post-match presentation said, “It (target) was definitely gettable, but they bowled pretty well. Pathirana was the difference. They were smart with their plans and their approach. They got the hang of it, there’s a man behind the stumps (Dhoni) who tells them what’s working, and that helps. It (pitch) was holding up a bit and getting difficult.”

“It was about batting well and keeping the intent. We were going quite well (in the run chase) till Pathirana came into the attack and took those two wickets. It was about what was best at that time, we could have done something different. I like to play percentage cricket, it would have been difficult for him (Dube) against seamers rather than spin. We are on the road for the next four games, need to play good cricket, and need to keep the intensity high.”
