Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur earned the player-of-the-match award for her great century against England in the third and final ODI of their series, which ended Tuesday in Chester-le-Street. Kaur’s 102 runs from 84 balls helped India reach a winning score of 318. England only scored 305 in response. Kaur hit 14 fours to lead the batting for the visiting team, making them the second team after Australia to defeat England in England in consecutive ODI series.
Fast bowler Kranti Goud played a big role in this historic win. She bowled incredibly well, achieving her best bowling figures of 6/52 from 9.5 overs, which helped India win by 13 runs.
After the awards ceremony, Kaur kindly said she would share her player-of-the-match award with her young teammate, praising her highly.
I want to share my award with Kranti because she bowled one of her best spells ever. It’s a great achievement for a bowler. We’ve been wanting a fast bowler like her. Well done, Kranti, you deserve it, Kaur said in a video shared by the BCCI.
India won the series 2-1, concluding a successful trip where they also won a T20I series against England.
