Wasim Jaffer Feels Sad For Shubhman As He Didn’t Get Picked Against Bangladesh

With Kohli’s 72nd Int’l ton and Kishan’s double century in the recently concluded India tour of Bangladesh, India’s former cricketer Wasim Jaffer has a soft corner for India’s Opener Shubhman Gill. Even after performing well against the kiwis, Gill failed to get picked against Bangladesh.

Ishan Kishan, who consistently performs and puts himself in a stronger position as an opener, has been knocking on the doors of the selection committee for the upcoming World Cup. Also, his double century makes him an inarguably great option for India in ODI.

Jaffer says in a video for Cricinfo that Gill was the priority for Opener after the Dhawan-Sharma pair, but he slipped a spot as Ishan Kishan delivered with a massive double ton. Looking at his condition, he feels that the 23-year-old didn’t do anything wrong and has performed even in New Zealand and whatever opportunities he has got.

Wasim Jaffer still favors and is on the side of the Dhawan-Sharma pair for India’s opening solution, but there’s a need to monitor them as they didn’t perform yet.

Speaking more at Cricinfo, the former Indian Opener quotes, “What can be a solution for Shikhar Dhawan and who are the 3rd and 4th options for India for the opening solution.” He is also concerned about the constant dropping and missing of players for many reasons; this has not only been an issue in consistency but also has put the selection committee in a state of dilemma.

India has recently played a 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh, lost by 2-1, and will be playing 2-match test series against them in Bangladesh.
