During the second day of the first Test match in Dominica, Kohli’s unbeaten knock of 36 runs propelled him past Virender Sehwag’s tally, securing his position as India’s fifth-highest run-getter in Test cricket. With his consistent performances, Virat Kohli has become a stalwart in Indian cricket. In his 110 Test matches, he has amassed a staggering 8,504 runs, surpassing Virender Sehwag’s previous record of 8,503 runs. Kohli’s patient innings of 36 runs came off 96 deliveries, adorned with a single four. His contribution was crucial in ensuring India ended the day at 312/2, as he stitched together an unbeaten 72-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

At the pinnacle of India’s Test run-scoring charts still stands the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Despite retiring from the game a decade ago, Tendulkar’s unmatched record of 15,921 runs from 200 Test matches remains unchallenged. The Little Master’s remarkable feat includes an astounding 51 centuries, all at an average of 53.87. Rahul Dravid, popularly known as “The Wall,” occupies second on India’s highest Test run-scorers list. His illustrious career yielded 13,265 runs at an average of 52.63, including 36 centuries and 63 fifties. Following him is Sunil Gavaskar, a batting legend who amassed 10,122 runs with 34 centuries and 45 fifties, maintaining an average of 51.12. VVS Laxman, known for his heroics against Australia, sits in the fourth spot with 8,781 runs, 17 centuries, and 56 fifties from 134 Test matches.

With his recent achievement, Virat Kohli joins the elite company of India’s top Test run-getters. His current tally of 8,504 runs places him in fifth position.
