Virat Kohli achive this rare milestone against CSK in tournament opener

Royal Challengers Bangaluru star batter Virat Kohli achieved a rare milestone in Twenty20 cricket in the IPL’s opening encounter against CSK.

Virat Kohli became the first Indian batter to score 12,000 runs in Twenty20 cricket. Virat Kohli achieved this milestone at Chepauk Stadium against the Chennai Super Kings.

With this milestone, Kohli has now entered the elite list, which already has players like Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Shoaib Malik.

Chris Gayle is on top with 14562 runs, followed by Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik with 13360 runs; at the third position, it’s West Indies legend Kieron Pollard with 12900 runs, followed by Alex Hales with 12319 runs and David Warner with 12065; and then there’s Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli has been out of action for the last two months. The star batter was not part of the team that recently played a five-match test series against England.

Speaking of Virat Kohli, RCB’s director, Mo Bobat, said, “Virat’s in a good place. We all know he’s an absolute champion cricketer. So he’s at a stage of his career, in a stage of his experience now, where most of what he does is pretty hardwired into him. He’s coming in fresh, which is what we’re excited about.”

Bobat further added, “Kohli has had a good bit of time off from his cricket. He’s in a great frame of mind. He’s had good family time; he’s fresh with his energy, and he’s looking forward to getting involved. He’s had a few hits with us over the last few days, and he’s hitting the ball brilliantly.”

RCB lost the opening encounter against CSK by six wickets. The team will be facing the Punjab Kings on their home ground in Bangluru on March 25.
