‘Virat Has Hinted And I’m Going To Mumbai’, AB de Villiers To Join RCB In IPL 2024? Here Is The Massive Update

The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is set to begin on March 22 where defending champion Chennai Super Kings will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Meanwhile, one of the stalwarts of RCB, AB de Villiers has given a hint on his arrival for India for the IPL.

The former Bangalore batsman disclosed that he will be based in Mumbai for the initial weeks of IPL 2024. De Villiers is scheduled to take on a broadcasting role for the tournament.

De Villiers had been part of the broadcasting team during the 2023 season as well. Despite fervent appeals from fans urging the player to make a comeback, he has refrained from participating in the IPL since the 2021 season.

De Villiers also shared details about his conversation with Virat Kohli, disclosing that he is considering a brief coaching stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the 2024 season.

“Nothing confirmed yet, Virat has hinted that he might want me to come over and spend a bit of time with him and some of the batters,” said de Villiers on his YouTube channel.

“That call will come from Andy Flower, Faf, and the team. For now, I’m just going to be in Mumbai for the first few weeks of the IPL. I’m doing a bit of commentating,” he added.

AB de Villiers is one of the most successful batters in the history of the tournament, and decided to conclude his IPL career with an impressive tally of 5162 runs from 184 matches.
