Board For Cricket Control In India (BCCI) is set for the first edition of the Women’s Premier League. The Auction for the Women’s players has been done, and the schedule of the match has been announced. On the other hand, all five franchises will try their best to make a perfect XI from the chosen players.

Looking at the upcoming edition, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced Indian stalwart Smriti Mandhana as their skipper for the first season of the Women’s Premier League. A video posted by Royal Challengers Bangalore from their official Twitter handle in which current skipper Faf du Plessis and former skipper Virat Kohli are available with Smriti Mandhana gave her a new responsibility with the latter making announcement.

Indian star player and RCB’s former skipper Virat Kohli started the convo by introducing all RCB fans and current skipper Faf.

“Hi RCB fans, this is your No. 18 here to make a special announcement today. Leading RCB over the last decade has been a very enjoyable and memorable career phase. A captain isn’t just the leader of the group. He is someone who creates the culture and carries that legacy forward by earning the respect of everyone around him.” said Virat.

“Now, it’s time for another No. 18 to lead a special RCB team in the Women’s Premier League. Yes, we are talking about Smriti Mandhana.
Go well, Smriti; you will have the support of the best team and the best fans in the world,” further Virat announced.

After this, Faf du Plessis shared his feelings about the upcoming Women’s IPL, encouraged Smriti and his team RCB for the inaugural edition, and congratulated Mandhana.

“It’s been a great couple of months for RCB. Firstly, getting a women’s IPL team and assembling a strong squad at the Auction. And now it’s time to reveal the first women’s captain of RCB for this year’s women’s IPL. I am confident that our women’s captain has all the attributes to lead RCB. All the very best, Smriti Mandhana. See you at the games,” the current skipper said.

Newly appointed skipper Smriti thanked the RCB’s officials and the stalwart player for giving their role and responsibility. And also assured them of 100% success.

“I would like to thank RCB management for giving me this amazing opportunity. I’m looking forward to receiving all the love and support from your fans, which I’m told are the best in the world. And I promise you to give my 100% to lead RCB to success in WPL,” said the left-handed opener.

The inaugural Women’s Premier League will be played in Mumbai from March 4 to 26.
