Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma showed his usual wit while exchanging friendly remarks with his good friend and RCB wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik. This happened particularly after Dinesh Karthik, playing for RCB, aggressively faced the MI bowlers during their IPL 2024 match at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
Rohit jokingly mentioned and talked about the selection of Dinesh Karthik in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The experienced batter smashed 53 runs off just 23 balls and helped his IPL team to post a total of 196 runs at the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In the middle of the overs, when RCB was batting, Rohit Sharma was observed heading towards Dinesh Karthik, who was batting, and engaging in friendly conversation with him. It was Karthik’s first fifty of the season and he got in 23 balls which included five fours and four sixes.
While speaking on the innings of DK, on the stump mic, Rohit Sharma was heard saying, “World Cup Khelna Hai, World Cup (He is looking to push for the World Cup selection. He has to play the World Cup).” Now this clip is going viral on social media.
The Indian selectors are closely monitoring the performances in the IPL as they consider players for the T20 World Cup squad, which begins on June 1. This time the World Cup will be jointly hosted by the USA and West Indies.
