VIDEO: Ricky Ponting And EX Cricketers Teases Mitchell Starc For 24.75 Cr IPL Contract, Pacer Comes With An Interesting Answer

Mitchell Starc made history by securing the record for the highest-priced purchase in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-arm fast bowler secured a substantial deal valued at INR 24.75 crore from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the IPL 2024 player auction in Dubai.

Starc’s hefty price tag has not only generated buzz in India but has also stirred discussions within the Australian cricket community.

During a conversation on 7Cricket on Tuesday, former pacer Trent Copeland teased Mitchell Starc. Starc had joined the broadcaster’s panel, which also included Ricky Ponting and Copeland, during a rain interruption in the Boxing Day Test between Australia and Pakistan.

During the conversation, Trent Copeland playfully teased Mitchell Starc by making a gesture of ‘coughing money.’ Copeland coughed and produced a currency note, saying, “Sorry… Stitch up, mate.” The lighthearted act amused everyone involved in the discussion.

KKR made a significant financial commitment to acquire Mitchell Starc, securing him with the highest bid in the IPL auction. In a notable move, Pat Cummins secured the second-highest bid, joining Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 20.50 crore.

“I made some choices, which I don’t regret at all. I think it’s probably helped my Test career, so I’m very happy with how it’s all gone. Very grateful to have some interest in the auction and excited, thrilled, and surprised. There are plenty of words you can describe the night,” Starc said on the LiSTNR Sport podcast.
