Understanding the Significance of Rishabh Pant’s Heavy Fine for Code of Conduct Breach

Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant has been reprimanded for the second time in the ongoing season of the IPL for maintaining a slow overrate. The Delhi capitals suffered a huge defeat against KKR yesterday by 106 runs.

Following a capital loss against the Knights, they have moved to 9th place in the points table. 

The IPL issued an official statement on Rishabh Pant getting fined for maintaining a slow overrate.

Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, on April 3.”

Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 24 lakh, as this was the second time he repeated the same offense.
Apart from Rishabh Pant, the impact player of Delhi capitals was also fined for the same.

The statement further added, “As it was his team’s second offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser”.
