Indian opener and vice-captain KL Rahul failed again to impress with his performance in the T20 World Cup 2022. In the second match against Netherland, he scored 9 runs off 12 deliveries. Paul van Meekeren dismissed him in the third over of the innings by LBW. In the previous match against Pakistan, he had just scored 4 runs.
After getting the early blow in the match, the Indian team has resurrected with the help of three half-centuries from Skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav, respectively. India won the match by 56 runs. The performance of KL Rahul till now in the ongoing ICC tournament has been a major concern for the team management and captains. It will be interesting to see how the team management and KL will handle this type of situation in this marquee tournament.
Former star opener batter Virender Sehwag was surprised by the action of KL Rahul for not taking the review and shared an interesting story of the 2011 World Cup regarding the review.
“Ek KL Rahul hai, agar vo DRS le lete toh vo run bhi banaate. Out nahi the vo, unhone pata nahi kyun nahi liya. Maine rule banaaya tha 2011 me, agar mere pad pe ball lagi toh main toh review lunga hi lunga. Tum logon ke liye ek hai. Ek mere liye hai, baaki 10 players ke liye ek. Tum decide kar lena ki kab lena hai, maine toh le liya hai ek.”(If KL Rahul had taken a DRS, he would have scored runs. I don’t know why he didn’t take a review. I have made a rule during the 2011 World Cup that if the ball struck my pad, I will take the review. The rest players of the team had one review, and one review was reserved for me.) Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“Achhe form me toh lena hi chahiye, aur nahi ho toh zaroor lena chahiye. Sabka form me aana zaroori hai. (If you are in good form, you should take the review. But if you’re not, you should definitely take it. Everyone must get back to form here),” Sehwag further added.
