Tim Southee Achieved Another Milestone In Test Surpassed Former Indian Skipper MS Dhoni

In the second Test match between New Zealand and England, New Zealand team captain Tim Southee hit tremendous sixes. In the first innings of the second Test match, Southee scored 73 runs in just 49 balls with the help of 5 fours and 6 sixes.

Southee broke the record of former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni). Apart from Dhoni, he has left behind England’s Kevin Pietersen and former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq.

MS Dhoni has hit 78 sixes in 144 innings in Test cricket, while Tim Southee hit 82 sixes. Tim Southee has reached number 11 in the list of batters with most sixes in Test cricket history. If Southee also hits a six in the test match, then he will join the top 10 list.

England skipper Ben Stokes has the record of most sixes in Test cricket history. Stokes has hit 109 sixes in 91 matches. Brendon McCullum is second in the list with 107 sixes. Former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist is third in the list with 100 sixes. In the history of Test cricket, these are the only three batters who have scored 100 or more sixes.

Still, this stormy innings of the captain could not prevent New Zealand from the follow on. In this match, the Kiwi team has to bat for the second time in a row. In the second innings, the host scored 483 runs with the help of Kane Williamson’s 132 runs and Tom Blundell’s 90 runs. Now the England team required 210 runs to win the game; however, they are on 48/1 after the end of the fourth day.
