On July 26, the West Indies and Australia met at Warner Park in St. Kitts for the third T20I of their five-match series. The West Indies batted first after losing the toss and scored 214 runs, largely due to Shai Hope’s great batting.
Australia’s chase got off to a rough start, with their top batsmen struggling. Still, Tim David’s outstanding innings led the Aussies to an amazing win. David came in during a tough spot and aggressively took on the West Indies’ bowlers.
David changed the game. The 29-year-old scored 102* runs off 37 balls, setting the record for the fastest T20I century by an Australian and the third-fastest by a player from a full-member nation. Along with Mitch Owen’s 36*, David helped Australia chase down the 215-run target in 16.1 overs, winning by four wickets and securing the series.
Australia now leads the series 3-0, and the West Indies need to improve quickly for the next games.
After the match, Tim David spoke about his incredible innings, saying he had fun on the field and that the pitch was excellent.
David said in the post-match presentation, I was having a great time playing for Australia. It was good to rest at home and get my body ready. I didn’t expect to score a hundred for Australia, so I’m thrilled. The pitch was good, and with the short boundaries, you have to trust your strengths. Warner Park is a great place to bat, and I’m glad to have experience here from the CPL.
