With no chance of Rishabh Pant returning for the IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals management is exploring the option for the new captain. It seems like Delhi Capitals have already got their replacement and it’s none other than Australian destructive opener David Warner.
If the reports are to be believed, Delhi Capitals will assign the wicket-keeping duties to Sarfaraz Khan. Apart from it very soon Delhi Capitals will move to David Warner for the captaincy role.
The source close to the Delhi Capitals had an interview with Times Of India where he said,””Pant has been the mainstay of the middle-order. Warner has experience in leading IPL teams. The management will speak to him. The middle order needs an impactful Indian batter now. Sarfaraz will be asked to keep wickets if the combination asks for it. Meanwhile, the team will be looking for a domestic wicketkeeper or a strong batter.”
It is interesting to note that Delhi has also got Phil Salt in their squad during the IPL Auction 2023 and he can also keep wickets for the team if necessary.
Talking David Warner’s captaincy skill, the player has vast experience of being a skipper. He was the captain of SRH for years until Kane Williamson took the sword from him. In 2016, David Warner took his team to the finale where they won the trophy beating Royal Challengers Bangalore.
