Mumbai Indian has picked a young Australian all-rounder Cameroon Green at INR 17.50 in the IPL auction 2023. Cameroon became the second most expensive player in IPL history and the most expensive player of the Mumbai Indians in IPL history.
Recently, Green broke his finger in the 2nd test match against South Africa, in which he performed impressively with a five-wicket haul, and was ruled out from the 3rd Test match against the visitors after the medical report claimed that he might not be able to bowl before 13th April 2023.
Talking to the media, Green revealed that this news needs to be corrected, he heard of this, but he will be available with his skills with bat and bowl in the IPL, which is expected to start on 25th March.
“No, that’s not correct. I’ve heard about this for a while now. I’m 100 percent available for both skill sets in the IPL at the start, so I don’t know where that’s come from”.
But talking on Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he stated he is still determining his fitness for the first test match, but his priority is playing for the national team.
“My first priority is the Test Series that’s beforehand. I think me and Mitchell Starc are maybe touch and go for that first one, but we’ll give ourselves the best chance,” Green stated.
Green seemed too happy about the auction price and explained his happiness by saying that this IPL auction turned out well for him and would try to re-pay for his performance in the maiden IPL season.
“Yeah, obviously it (auction) turned out well, but I think at the same time you want to go out there and perform and re-pay the faith they showed you. Having the right people around you keeps you pretty humble, in a way. You’ve got the right people to drag you down if you get too ahead of yourself, but also the right people to bring you back up when you’re going not as great as you like,” Green said.
Further, Green added that T20 cricket is a game of failures; you fail more than you succeed. But I will try my best to perform in the IPL 2023.
